1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent, MS66+ Red
CAC-Endorsed Premium Gem Rarity

1909-S 1C VDB MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. The 1909-S VDB is an object of great desire in the Lincoln cent series, and its popularity even transcends the confines of that collector market. High-grade examples are often found among the holdings of rare coin investors, and key date accumulators almost always include a representative of this famous San Francisco issue. It is ranked 19th in Garrett and Guth's 100 Greatest U.S. Coins, third edition.

The present example is a rare Plus-graded Premium Gem with full copper-gold luster. Red examples of this date are exceedingly rare any finer and such pieces are far out of reach for most collectors. This coin possesses tremendous eye appeal with glowing surfaces and a sharp strike. A superb example of the date. Population: 17 in 66+ Red, 14 finer. CAC: 29 in 66, 2 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)
