Description

1911-D Cent, MS66+ Red
Underrated Condition Rarity

1911-D 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. This first D-mint cent is an undeniable condition rarity, as PCGS has seen only 29 submissions in MS66 Red (two in 66+), with only a single Superb Gem finer (8/15). This magnificent example ranks among these finest-known examples, and is nearly half a grade point finer than the coin in the current highest-rated Registry Set. The burnt-orange color over the satiny surfaces is typical, and the obverse shows some die fatigue around the date and mintmark area. A few light flecks appear in the left obverse field; the reverse is trouble-free and rotated slightly counterclockwise.(Registry values: N2998)
