Description

Amazing 1911-D Cent, MS66 Red
Fully Brilliant and Sharply Struck

1911-D 1C MS66 Red PCGS. When one considers this piece, the comments that David Lange make are so important to consider: "Although most examples are rather softly struck, a few very sharp specimens may be found. When found in Mint State, these sharper coins are almost always brown or with minimal red. It seems that most of the fully red pieces fall into the softly struck category."
This Premium Gem from the Jack Lee Collection is an absolute anomaly. Not only is it fully brilliant with outstanding orange-copper luster, but it is also fully struck. The letters are sharp, the rims are bold, Lincoln's hair and beard details are well-defined, and the wheat ears are complete. Population: 17 in 66, 1 finer (9/08).
