Description

1911-S Cent, MS66 Red
Among the Finest, Ex: Hansen

1911-S 1C MS66 Red PCGS. Ex: Hansen-Whispering Pines. The 1911-S is the scarcest Lincoln cent issue of this date in full Red grades, with only 225 such coins reported at PCGS in all grades. Moreover, the majority of the population resides in MS64 or MS65, rarely lower or higher. Lower-grade pieces are more apt to be in the Brown or Red and Brown categories, while finer Red coins are just hardly known. The Whispering Pines 1911-S is a rare Premium Gem with full Red color that takes on a deep copper-orange hue over luminous fields. A bold strike completes the strong visual appeal. Under a loupe, scattered microscopic specks are discernible, which are characteristic of many 1911-S coins in Red grades. No 1911-S cents are numerically finer in the Red category at either leading service. Population: 19 in 66 (2 in 66+) Red, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N2998)
