Description

1912-D Lincoln Cent, MS67 Red
The Sole Finest at PCGS
Never Before Offered at Auction

1912-D 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Ex: Whispering Pines. This is the sole finest 1912-D Lincoln cent at PCGS, the only example graded MS67 Red by that service. NGC reports another coin in this same grade, although it has not been seen. Prior to the current offering, no 1912-D cent in Red condition has appeared at auction finer than MS66+. Thus, this finest PCGS coin is entering uncharted territory -- a repeating theme with the remarkable Whispering Pines coins.

Many of the 1912-D cents we have seen in MS66 Red have shown microscopic spots overall, but this Superb Gem is largely devoid of such imperfections. Only a tiny speck at the left edge of the top of the E in CENT serves as a pedigree mark on this piece. Vivid copper-red and orange hues adorn each side, while the strike is incredibly sharp throughout. There are, bluntly, no interruptions in the eye appeal of this unequaled Registry coin. Population: 1 in 67 Red, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N2998)
