Description

1914-D Lincoln Cent, MS64 Red and Brown
Brighter Color Than Usually Seen

1914-D 1C MS64 Red and Brown NGC. While the 1914-D cent is a special coin in its own right as a major rarity in the Lincoln cent series, there is an added element of collectibility that series experts will appreciate with this coin. Collectors know that the 1914-D has deeper red color than other early Lincoln cents. This piece is brighter, and very rarely is a '14-D found as such. It is even more curious, as the coin is designated Red and Brown. The surfaces overall have a mattelike texture, and the devices are fully struck. There are two mentionable areas that account for the MS64 grade: Shallow pinscratching is seen above the date, and there is a prominent mark on Lincoln's temple.(Registry values: N2998)
