Description
1915 Lincoln Cent, MS67 Red
Registry Set Contender
1915 1C MS67 Red PCGS. The 1915 cent had a mintage in excess
of 29 million coins, but this was actually a dramatic drop in
production at the Philadelphia Mint from the preceding years of the
Lincoln design. Full Red survivors can be located with a little
searching in the MS64 to MS65 grade range, but Premium Gems are
distinctly elusive and finer pieces are decidedly rare. This
beautifully preserved Superb Gem ranks a full grade point finer
than the coin represented in the current highest-rated Registry
Set; it is one of only eight MS67 Red examples certified at PCGS
(none have graded this high in either of the other color
categories), and only one coin has been encapsulated finer (7/14).
Satiny, coppery-red luster illuminates crisp design elements, and
magnification is needed to detect any mentionable signs of
carbon.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22BK, PCGS# 2479, Greysheet# 1741)
