Description

1915-D Cent, MS67 Red
Condition Census Registry Coin

1915-D 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Ex: Whispering Pines. Full Red examples of the 1915-D Lincoln cent are often available in grades through MS65, but MS66 pieces are scarce, and only a handful of finer pieces are known. This Superb Gem Red coin is within the Condition Census. Well-struck devices complement copper-red, satiny mint luster with no distracting spots and overall outstanding eye appeal such as is rarely seen on the 1915-D. We have previously handled two of the other MS67 Red coins known -- the Jerald L. Martin Collection PCGS specimen offered in our 2019 FUN Signature realized $43,200, and the Stephenville Collection piece in our recent November 2023 Showcase auction of that collection garnered $40,800. The builder of the Whispering Pines Registry Set chose for their collection some of the coins from the Stephenville Collection and from the Martin Collection, but for the 1915-D, only the current piece -- from neither of those spectacular sets -- would do. Population: 5 in 67 (1 in 67+) Red, 0 finer (11/24).
Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2023), lot 3047, realized $48,000.(Registry values: N2998)
