Description

1917 Cent, MS68 Red
Tied for Finest Certified

1917 1C MS68 Red PCGS. The 1917 cent, sporting a mintage approaching 200 million pieces, is readily obtainable through Premium Gem Red condition. MS67 examples become extremely scarce, however, and higher-grade specimens such as this MS68 Red piece are rare. Indeed, neither PCGS nor NGC has graded a single finer example and this is one of only two pieces so graded by PCGS. It is sharply struck, including crisp detail on Lincoln's hair and beard and on the lines and grains of the wheat stalks. Both sides are free of any mentionable spots or abrasions, and display satiny mint red luster. A terrific example that really looks as good as it sounds.
