1922 1C No D, Strong Reverse, FS-401, AU50 PCGS. Die Pair 2.
A pleasing AU example of this important Guide Book variety,
showing smooth chocolate-brown surfaces and just a trace of
high-point friction. The mintmark was polished off the obverse die,
creating this Denver-struck variety. Die Pair 2 shows the D-less
obverse paired with a fresh reverse die, which has significantly
sharper detail than the worn obverse.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22C9, Variety PCGS# 37676, Base PCGS# 3285)
