Description
1922 No D Cent, MS62 Red and Brown
Weak Reverse, Die Pair 3
Sole CAC Example
1922 No D 1C Weak Reverse MS62 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. This
piece shows extensive die fatigue on each side, as is diagnostic of
the Die Pair 3 variety with weakened details. However, abrasions
are at a minimum, and the surfaces yield substantial copper-pink
luster beneath light burgundy and olive overtones. The reverse is
rotated 30 degrees counterclockwise, another diagnostic of Die Pair
3.Variety: No D, Weak Reverse. Die Pair 3.
Population Data (3/15): For Weak Reverse varieties, PCGS shows 12 examples in MS62 Red and Brown and 32 finer. This is the sole 1922 No D, Weak Reverse in this grade with the green CAC approval.
Heritage Commentary: The No D 1922 Lincoln cents are avidly collected by series enthusiasts. While the Strong Reverse variant is the most popular, the Weak Reverse is also in demand, largely among more budget-conscious collectors. The present piece is a pleasing example for the grade.
