Choice 1922 No D, Weak Reverse Cent

1922 No D 1C Weak Reverse MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. As Lincoln collectors well know, the 1922-D is very rare with mint luster and in high grades. The No D variant is even more challenging as it was not recognized until many years after striking. Those pieces found in circulation between the mid-1930s and early 1950s show considerable wear. Very rare in any grade of Uncirculated, there are just a handful of coins that are known with any mint color. This piece has attractive cherry-red and gold surfaces with gunmetal-gray mellowing over the highpoints of the devices. We only see one carbon spot, and that is a small one, just above the second 2 in the date. Certified in a green label holder. Population: 9 in 64 Red and Brown, 0 finer (6/07).(Registry values: N7079)
