Description

1923-S Cent, MS65 Red
Green CAC, Old Green Holder
A Top-Grade Registry Coin

1923-S 1C MS65 Red PCGS. CAC. Most Red 1923-S cents grade only MS63 or MS64. Gems are rare, and no finer pieces are known. This top-grade PCGS coin is also one of the two finest pieces endorsed by CAC. Remarkably clean, satiny surfaces display uniform copper-red luster and no carbon spotting. Even a 10x loupe fails to unearth obtrusive imperfections. The strike is sharp, and eye appeal is outstanding for the issue. This is a Registry Set coin of unsurpassed quality. We have not handled a PCGS-graded Gem Red example since our July 2013 Summer FUN Signature, lot 3067, where such a coin realized $22,325 -- without the CAC green label that the present coin possesses. This piece is also housed in an old green label holder. Population: 16 in 65 Red, 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 65, 0 finer (5/18).
