Description

1924-D Cent, MS65+ Red CAC
Condition Census, Ex: Hansen

1924-D 1C MS65+ Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Hansen-Whispering Pines. Red Mint State examples of this Denver issue at PCGS are clustered in the MS63 to MS65 range, with the majority in MS64. None are in lower grades, and only one MS66 piece is finer (11/24). The Whispering Pines coin is among the seven Gem Red PCGS coins with a Plus designation, and it is one of nine Gem Red pieces overall with CAC endorsement. This places it firmly within the Condition Census, and makes it a must-have item for the Registry collector.

The coin is characterized by luminous, satiny mint luster that runs deep orange in the centers before ceding to lighter golden color in the margins. As is common on the issue, moderate strike weakness appears on the O in ONE and on the first A in AMERICA. However, Lincoln's portrait is bold. Perhaps most appealing of all is the complete lack of carbon spotting. Population: 48 in 65 (7 in 65+) Red, 1 finer. CAC: 9 in 65, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N2998)
