Description

MS65 Red 1924-D Cent
Lustrous Series Semikey From the 1920s

1924-D 1C MS65 Red PCGS. The 1924-D Lincoln cent is a commonly available coin in the circulated grades, but Mint State coins tend to have strike or surface problems that keep them from the Gem level; even Gem Brown examples are seldom seen, and Gem Red coins such as the present piece are major series rarities. The surfaces on this piece are highly lustrous and largely almond-tan, with irregular swatches of lilac and green on the obverse. The strike is well-produced if not absolute, and the reverse die is rotated about 30 degrees counterclockwise, as on every example we recall seeing. Population: 38 in 65 (1 in 65+) Red, 1 finer (6/12).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22CD, PCGS# 2554, Greysheet# 1885)

Weight: 3.11 grams

Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
