Description

Important 1926-S Cent, MS64 Red

1926-S 1C MS64 Red PCGS. CAC. This is an extremely important offering for the Set Registry collector and is just one of several important condition rarities in the series. Nearly every branch-mint Lincoln cent from the 1920s is rare with full red color. The condition rarity of the '26-S is legendary among collectors. Only two pieces have been certified as MS65 (one at each service), and the PCGS MS65 Red coin we sold in our FUN Sale in January 2006 realized an astonishing $149,500. With this in mind one can easily see the value represented by a high-end MS64 Red coin such as this one. The design elements are sharply defined, and each side has highly attractive pale orange luster with only a few grade limiting blemishes. The next owner should be very pleased with this Choice coin. Population: 66 in 64 Red, 1 finer (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)
