Description
Choice Red 1926-S Cent
1926-S 1C MS64 Red PCGS. If the 1922 No D Strong Reverse is excluded, the 1926-S is the rarest Lincoln cent issue in MS65 Red. PCGS and NGC have each certified exactly one example in that grade, with none finer. The present near-Gem comes close to the Holy Grail grade, held back only by a few inconsequential ticks on the EN in CENT and a slightly subdued appearance. The satiny pumpkin-gold fields and devices are impressively free from spots or marks, and the strike is crisp. Specialists are well aware of the rarity of the 1926-S in full Red, and are certain to compete vigorously for this Choice representative. From The Davis Conway Collection.(Registry values: N2998)
