Description

1928-D Lincoln Cent, MS66 Red
One Numerically Finer Piece Known

1928-D 1C MS66 Red PCGS. The Denver branch mint struck just over 31 million pieces in 1928, and while the 1928-D survives well through Gem in Red, it becomes conditionally rare any finer. This boldly struck Red Premium Gem displays fully lustrous original mint copper that exhibits only slight mellowing through hints of lavender and orange. Abrasions are light and typical of the grade. NGC reports one numerically finer piece, and PCGS shows no numerically finer examples but does report two in MS66+ (12/25).(Registry values: N1793)
