1936 Lincoln Cent, MS66+ Red
Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101
Only Two Finer Examples Known

1936 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS66+ Red PCGS. At time of production, the 1936 Lincoln cent mintage of just over 303.6 million coins was the third largest of the series. Three significant doubled dies are listed in the Guide Book from 1936, and this example is Variety 1, or FS-101. This Plus-graded Premium Gem shows strong doubling on the date, LIBERTY, and the motto. Sharply detailed devices are illuminated on surfaces of vibrant mint-red luster. Of the 37 Red FS-101 pieces at PCGS and NGC, only two are finer at MS67 (12/25).
