Doubled Die Obverse, FS-102
1936 1C Doubled Die Obverse, Type Two, MS66 Red PCGS.
FS-102. This coin represents the second of three significant
doubled die obverse 1936 Lincoln cents listed in the latest edition
of the Cherrypickers' Guide, FS-102. Strong doubling is
evident on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBERTY. The undertype R
in LIBERTY shows a broken left leg. This issue is decidedly rare at
the MS66 grade level, with the Red designation, and neither of the
leading grading services have certified any coins in higher numeric
grades (9/23). This delightful Premium Gem exhibits sharp
definition on all design elements, and the impeccably preserved
original red surfaces are lustrous and appealing. Population: 15 in
