1940 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Ex: Jerald L. Martin Collection. This
masterfully produced Superb Gem is fully detailed throughout and
displays radiantly lustrous, nearly pristine surfaces. Visually
tantalizing golden and red-orange toning appears in a variegated
fashion over both sides of the piece, generating splendid eye
appeal. No coin from the same issue has received a finer grade from
either of the major services. Population: 5 in 68 Red, 0 finer
(11/18).Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 7/2005), lot 5317, which realized $11,500.
