1940-D 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Neither NGC nor PCGS have certified a 1940-D cent in a higher grade than the present lot. The PCGS Population is five coins in MS68 Red with none finer. NGC has graded two pieces as such, with none better. The orange-gold color is exceptionally attractive, and powder-blue accents visit both sides. We note tiny field ticks near Lincoln's chin and above the i in AMERICA.(Registry values: N991)
