Description
1943-D Steel Cent, MS68+ CAC
Tied for Finest Steel Coin of Any Mint
1943-D 1C MS68+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: Whispering Pines. The 1943-D
steel cent is often available in MS68, at least in the auction
setting where such high-end coins tend to trade hands most.
However, PCGS lists only six coins in this grade with a Plus
designation, and none of these have appeared in our auctions before
the present coin, when we handled it as part of The Whispering
Pines Collection. This piece is an elite top-tier rarity. Not only
is it tied for the finest steel cent of any mint at PCGS, it is
within the Condition Census of Wheat cents overall at PCGS. A sharp
strike and brilliant, undisturbed zinc luster produce unbridled eye
appeal and technical quality. PCGS Population: 6 in 68+, 0 finer
