Description

1954 Lincoln Cent, MS67 Red
Tied for Finest Known

1954 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Only four 1954 Lincoln cents have been rated as Superb Gems by PCGS with full Red color (2/14); a very low number when one considers that nearly 72 million pieces were produced. None are graded finer at either service. The exceptional quality of this coin is confirmed by a review of comments made by David Lange in his 2005 reference The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents: "1954-P cents are noted for their generally poor quality. Most are dark and were coined from severely overused dies. ... The reasons for both the low mintage and the drastically inferior quality of this issue remain unknown."

Razor-sharp strike definition and rich original mint-red luster support the MS67 Red grade assessment, along with clean, nearly pristine surfaces and vibrant luster. A great coin with tremendous eye appeal.
