Description

1955 Doubled Die Obverse, AU55 CAC
Beautiful, Abrasion-Free Brown Survivor

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, AU55 PCGS. CAC. Chocolate-brown surfaces contain attractive steel overtones. Strike is sharp, and abrasions are minimal. Only about 24,000 1955 Double Die Obverse cents were originally released, and only about 3,000 to 4,000 exist today, according to Bowers. While this may seem common to collectors of 19th Century American coins, it is very rare in the context of the Lincoln cent series, with many mintages in the 9 and 10 figures. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins.
