FS-101, Doubled Die Obverse
1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, AU58 PCGS. This popular
doubled die variety features dramatic doubling on the date, LIBERTY
and the motto. Dark-chocolate patina on soft, satiny luster, is
accented with subtle hints of tan-gold by the devices. A loupe
reveals two tiny green specks on the date and between the N and T
of CENT, otherwise marks are insignificant. Minimal wear prevents a
full Mint State grade but provides an ideal opportunity for the
budget-conscious collector. Among the 100 Greatest U.S.
