Description

1955 Lincoln Cent, MS62 Brown
FS-101, Doubled Die Obverse, CAC

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS62 Brown NGC. CAC. The 1955 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln cent is one of the most famous and widely collected varieties in U.S. coinage. This Brown MS62 example features satiny chestnut-brown patina accented with bright hues of original mint copper, just shy of a Red and Brown designation. The strike is characteristically blunt on Lincoln's bust, but the doubling on the date, LIBERTY, and the motto are bold. Light scattered marks account for the grade. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins (#67 in 6th edition).
