Description

1955 Cent, MS65 Red and Brown
FS-101, Doubled Die Obverse
A Rarity in Gem Condition

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS65 Red and Brown NGC. The 1955 Doubled Die Lincoln cent is usually plentiful, although Mint State coins mostly grade no finer than MS64, regardless of color designation. Gems are rare, whether Brown or Red and Brown. The current Gem Red and Brown piece displays satiny luster that is pleasantly devoid of obvious carbon spots. Even abrasions are absent, allowing the eye appeal to be exceptionally strong. Original golden-copper luster glows in the protected portions of the fields, while hints of lavender and plum appear in the reddish-brown overtones of the devices and open fields. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins.
