MS64 Brown, Traces of Mint Red

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS64 Brown PCGS. CAC. FS-101. Most examples of this famous key variety, including those in Uncirculated grades, have lost most of their initial mint red. Though the present near-Gem is designated as Brown, ample fire-red color remains on both sides, along with glimpses of steel-blue toning. The high points of the portrait are olive-green.(Registry values: N1793)
