Description

1955 Lincoln Cent, MS64 Red
Doubled Die Obverse

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS64 Red PCGS. FS-101. With an estimated mintage of about 24,000 pieces, the 1955 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln cent is the most sought-after die error in the series, and possibly the most famous in U.S. numismatics. The present coin is a Choice example, with red surfaces and well struck devices, so the doubling is plainly visible. The issue is scarce in MS64 Red and only 23 coins have been certified in higher numeric grades by PCGS and NGC combined (8/10).
