Description
Glossy MS65 Brown 1955/55 Lincoln Cent
1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS65 Brown PCGS. CAC. Probably the most famous hubbing error in Mint history, the obverse lettering shows pronounced die doubling, a feature that has propelled this issue from the realm of an error to a regular part of the Lincoln cent series. This piece is almost completely brown with just a hint of light, original red mint luster remaining around the devices. A few small nicks can be found on the satiny surfaces, but only one, on the E of ONE on the reverse, is even visible without magnification. Glossy, spot-free, and very elusive in Gem condition. None have been graded finer by either NGC or PCGS. Population: 5 in 65, 0 finer (4/08). (Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 2825, Greysheet# 2165)
