    Description

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse XF45 NGC. FS-101, formerly FS-021.8. This is understandably one of the most popular doubled die varieties of all time. The amazingly broad doubling on the date and obverse lettering is obvious, even to the unaided eye, which makes it surprising that these pieces ever escaped from the Mint. This example is well detailed, with rich brown coloration and moderate, even wear on the devices. A handful of minuscule contact marks reside on each side. (Registry values: N1)
