Description
1956 Lincoln Cent, MS68 Red
The Sole Finest at PCGS
First Appearance at Auction in This Grade
1956 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Ex: Whispering Pines. Being plentiful
in lower grades due to having been saved in roll quantity at the
time of issue, the 1956 Lincoln is surprisingly scarce in MS67 Red,
giving collectors a challenge when acquiring such a piece for
Registry Sets. The Whispering Pines coin, however, is on a level
all its own. It is the sole finest 1956 cent at PCGS, comparable
perhaps only to a lone NGC coin in the same grade. No example in
MS68 Red has ever appeared at auction, making this piece, as with
many other coins in the Whispering Pines Registry Set, a breaker of
new ground and previously unattainable opportunity.Frosty luster is pristine, virtually flawless, immaculate. It runs deep copper-orange around the borders and lighter golden throughout the interiors. A sharp strike visits the devices, and overall eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 1 in 68 Red, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N1793)
