    1943-D/D 1C FS-501 MS66 PCGS. The "Double D" FS-501 is the best known steel cent die variety. It is photographed on page 122 of the 2017 Guide Book, due to the dramatic southeast spread between mintmark impressions. This sharply struck and satiny example displays minor traces of gunmetal toning on the obverse, along with a few hair-thin parallel flan striations, as coined. Population: 30 in 66, 8 finer (3/17). (NGC ID# 22E6, Variety PCGS# 37819, Base PCGS# 2715)
