1970-S Large Date Cent, MS65 Red and Brown
FS-101, Doubled Die Obverse

1970-S 1C Large Date, Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS65 Red and Brown NGC. Prominent die doubling is visible on all obverse lettering, including the date on this Guide Book variety. This variety does not get the publicity of the 1955 and 1969-S doubled dies, although it is nearly as widely doubled and is seldom seen in any grade. The present Gem Red and Brown example is mainly Red, although wisps of burgundy toning prevent full Red classification from NGC. There is a lone mark in the left obverse field but no obvious carbon spots.
