Description
High-Wheel Bicycle Engraved on an 1854 Quarter
1854 Quarter Love Token. The reverse of an 1854 With Arrows quarter was planed and engraved with a high-wheel bicycle in the center, "Edward Le Croix" above and "Millis, Mass." below in fancy script. A simplified wreath decorates the border. Although the host coin is dated 1854, this piece was probably made after 1870, which is when the high-wheel bicycle was introduced.
