Description

Tokens of the Malay Peninsular Areas, Accumulation of issues, generally around 1850 -1900. CuNi and brass, as seems standard in most parts of the world for tokens of that time, predominate with at least one pewter and one tin and two coppers included for good measure. A semi- specimen quality Langkat Sumatra Tobacco Company 10 Cents from about 1890 is appealing. From the same area is a much larger brass 50 Cents in well circulated quality. A large CuNi uniface Kisaran "1 Dollar" dated 1888 is most atypical. Two nice Sumatra plantation tokens of 1/10 Dollar and 1/5 Dollar are labeled "1840's" but seem too well made to be of that earlier period. Of the remaining 10 items, perhaps most interesting is an 18mm circa-1900 brass 5 Cents of Tjinta Radja Estate; it is mint state except some heavy tarnish. Generally likely typical quality for the eras; attributions are tentative. Sold as is, NO Return.

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
