Description
French Coinage Copper Piefort 25 Sous, KM-PN1, AU58 Brown NGC, double thickness in copper. Struck under the auspices of the British with French legends. This also has the same environmental damage as the Singapore/Mauritius mule in this sale, and they have obviously stayed together for some time. The heat and humidity of Mauritius or Singapore would not be a friendly environment to any coin. Pridmore's example was sold to Dick Ford in 1982, and then in 1991, it went to a collection in the U.S. This is the only other piece we have been able to track.Auction Info
