Elusive Large Size Washington Success Medal, Baker-265, MS62

Undated MEDAL Washington Success Medal, Large Size, Plain Edge MS62 PCGS. Baker-265, R.6. Antique-gold and copper-tan colors are well blended over both sides of this important Washington piece. The strike is a little soft in the centers, but it sharpens considerably toward the borders. There is a mentionable spot in the right obverse field, and a sizeable die break (as struck) over the upper obverse is diagnostic of most survivors of this elusive variety. Rulau and Fuld (1999) suggest that examples of Baker-265 may have been struck circa 1793. Listed on page 62 of the 2003 Guide Book.
