Fully Split Bands
1916-D 10C -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc.
Immediately obvious is the incredible sharpness of the interior
motifs, which includes crisp detailing on Liberty's hair curls and
full separation of the bands on the fasces. NGC notes light
cleaning, as evidenced by faint lines hidden beneath mottled golden
toning. More important are a few hair-thin scratches on Liberty's
portrait, which become apparent with a loupe, but even these are
trivial. Listed among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 17/2015), lot 3836.(Registry values: N2998)
