Description
1916-D Dime, MS64 Full Bands
A Perennial Favorite
1916-D 10C MS64 Full Bands PCGS. CAC. The 1916-D Mercury
dime is a perennial favorite among coin collectors. This situation
manifests itself in the coin's price, which continues to climb in
all grades. In a July 26, 2005 Numismatic News article
titled "1916-D Dime Still Maintains Strong Appeal," Paul Green
writes:"Clearly, the years have done little or nothing to tarnish the reputation of the 1916-D. Demand for it seems to be constant, with some who are not collecting Mercury dimes still wanting a 1916-D for their collection."
Variegated champagne-gold and soft violet patina, joined on the obverse by mint-green, visits the lustrous surfaces of this near-Gem offering. A strong strike completes the design elements, including both the diagonal and middle fasces bands. Close examination reveals fewer marks than what might be expected for the grade designation.
