1916-D Mercury Dime, MS64 Full Bands
Key to the Series
1916-D 10C MS64 Full Bands PCGS. The Denver Mint coined just
264,000 Mercury dimes in 1916, the first of their kind, but quickly
stopped production to fulfil a Treasury Department order to produce
6.5 million quarter dollars of the earlier Barber design. Lincoln
cents, Buffalo nickels, and Walking Liberty half dollars were the
only other coins struck in Denver that year. The production shift
created a Denver Mint rarity for modern day collectors. This Choice
Mint State example features an excellent strike with delicate gold
toning over brilliant silver surfaces that display satin luster.
PCGS has certified just 73 finer Full Bands examples of the 1916-D
