1916-D Mercury Dime, XF Details
Conditionally Scarce Key Date

1916-D 10C -- Repaired -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. The inaugural year of the Mercury dime shows over 32 million pieces produced between the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints. The Denver Mint struck just 264,000 coins, establishing the 1916-D the key date of the series. Unassisted examination of this piece yields pleasant eye appeal, but a loupe reveals repairs that prevent a numeric grade from PCGS. This XF-level dime displays dove-gray patina highlighted with wisps of emerald and lilac. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins (#58 in 6th edition).
