Description

1916-D Mercury Dime, VF35
Mid-Grade Key Date Example

1916-D 10C VF35 PCGS. The Denver Mint halted production of the newly-designed Mercury dime in 1916 to focus on the urgent need for quarters. Just 264,000 pieces were struck, leaving the 1916-D scarce in all conditions any better than fine. This Choice VF example exhibits attractive pearl-gray patina on fully-outlined devices with light-charcoal borders. The smooth surfaces show normal wear for the grade, with only a tiny nick over ONE being of any significance. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins (#58 in 6th edition).(Registry values: N1793)
