Description

1918-D Dime, MS65 Full Bands
Glistening Luster, Conditionally Rare

1918-D 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. CAC. Overall, the 1918-D Mercury dime is more elusive in Full Bands than either of the previous issues from this mint, even the key 1916-D. At the Gem level, examples are genuinely rare, and finer pieces are only seen once in a great while. Moreover, CAC has endorsed only four coins in this grade and one finer (2/16), which ranks the present piece as a high-end Registry candidate. Were it not for a faint graze on Liberty's cheek below the eye, a finer grade might have been achieved. The interiors are well-defined, although minor weakness is seen along the left-hand peripheries. Some die erosion is observed in the reverse fields. Eye appeal is superb, accentuated by light golden toning over each side. Population: 27 in 65 Full Bands, 3 finer (2/16).(Registry values: N7079)
