Description
Important MS65 Full Bands 1919-S Dime
1919-S 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. Ex: Joshua II Collection.
After only the 1918-S, the 1919-S is the most difficult San
Francisco Mercury dime to locate with Gem quality surfaces
and Full Bands detail. If one were to consider total number
of extant pieces, however, the 1919-S the definitely the rarer of
the two issues. As befits the grade, this lustrous representative
is devoid of distracting blemishes. Beautiful sunset-gold patina
blankets both sides, but the crisply defined devices and incredibly
sharp crossbands are easily this coin's most dominant attributes.
An awe-inspiring survivor from this heavily circulated, little
saved delivery. Population: 20 in 65 Full Bands, 3 finer
(7/09).Ex: Louis Bassano Collection (Heritage, 8/2000), lot 6989, which realized $11,155.(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23HA, PCGS# 4927, Greysheet# 4538)
Weight: 2.49 grams
