Description

Splendid 1921-D Dime, Choice Mint State

1921-D 10C MS64 PCGS. The Philadelphia and Denver dimes of 1921 were underappreciated when minted, and as a result they are now elusive in any grade. After the famous 1916-D, the 1921-D ranks as the most difficult issue in the series with a comparatively low mintage of just over 1 million pieces. Satiny luster radiates from the untoned surfaces, and is unaffected by a few microscopic abrasions. The bands are fully defined, and there is only slight weakness in the hair above Liberty's forehead. A couple of tiny copper spots are noted on the reverse. A dazzling example of this desirable issue. PCGS has certified only 23 pieces finer (7/08).(Registry values: N1793)
