1923-S Dime, MS66 Full Bands
With Remarkable Full Strike Throughout

1923-S 10C MS66 Full Bands PCGS. CAC. Ex: Joshua II. While widely available in lower grades, high-grade examples of the 1923-S are elusive, especially with full bands. The scarcity of such pieces is mentioned in Lange's 2005 Complete Guide: "The number of Mint State survivors is relatively small, and these are often plagued by flat central and lower diagonal bands, as well as the peripheral weakness so common to most dimes of the 1920s." That explains why this piece is so special: It does not display the band or peripheral weakness expected. The surfaces show the bright, frosted mint luster San Francisco products are known for. Additionally, each side has a peripheral display of lime-golden, sunset-red, and violet colorations. Boldly defined throughout with no mentionable marks.
