Description
1924-S Dime, MS65 Full Bands
Major Strike Rarity
1924-S 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. PCGS CoinFacts ranks the
1924-S as the second-rarest issue in the Mercury dime series with
Full Bands behind the 1919-D. A mintage of slightly more than 7.1
million coins apparently had little effect on assuring the
availability of the 1924-S in high grades, with or without a Full
Bands designation. All Gems are rare, and finer coins are virtually
unheard of. Champagne-gold toning encircles brilliant, thickly
frosted centers, where the strike is needle-sharp. Detail softens
ever so slightly around the borders. Magnification reveals a few
microscopic specks on the fasces. Population: 19 in 65 (1 in 65+)
Full Bands, 2 finer (11/16).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23HL, PCGS# 4947, Greysheet# 4550)
Weight: 2.49 grams
Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
