Description

1931-S Dime, MS67 Full Bands
Registry Set Essential

1931-S 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS. The 1931-S Mercury dime is a low-mintage issue, struck to the extent of only 1.8 million coins during the depths of the Great Depression, the subject of the era's theme song, "Buddy, Can You Spare a Dime?" Even most Mint State examples, however, are in the lower grades thereof, usually showing small contact marks, strike weakness, or planchet problems of one sort or another. The issue is also a notable strike rarity. The present Superb Gem Full Bands coin is one of only eight such at PCGS, and there are none finer (9/13), making this piece a Registry Set essential. Thickly frosted, ice-white surfaces show no more than a pale blush of color, and the strike is impeccable throughout both sides. An amazingly attractive coin.(Registry values: N2998)
